My very dear friend Jasmine
and her brother Jacob
came down for a visit! ~The plane~

We had so much fun together!
Jas taught us 'Actionary'
(Pictionary but with actions)
and 'Stomps'.
It hurts.
A lot.

~Emma and I waiting expectantly~

Jas and I went into Ulverstone to wander around
the shops together.
We were very good, and didn't spend all
our money at the bookshop
or that lovely gift shop.
But we did visit the toffee shop.
I now have a new appreciation for the saying
"Like a kid in a candy shop".
A beautiful,
colourful,
yummy
place to go.

Nummy fudge...

~Yay!~

We scrap booked.

~They're here!~

Watched movies.

~Jas an' me!~

Laughed.

~Pretty Jas~

Talked.

~Ummm...no. We do not know them.~

And played the piano.

~The boys working~

Jacob went to work with James and Dad.
James really enjoyed Jacob's company,
and they got on really well.
It must be good having big sisters who write
to random people.

~Dad and Jacob~

So, we had an awesome time together,
and we are eagerly awaiting the next visit!
And today has been a bit flat.
I guess that is normal.

~the campout~

It is James' 16th birthday tomorrow,
so we had a camp out last weekend
with his friends.
The boys camped down the back
in the pine trees,
and the girls camped in the yard.

On Sunday afternoon we pulled out
the black tarp.

Water slide time!

~Amy~

~Amazing facial expression from Emma
and action from the Dads!~

We all had a lovely time together!
The girls claim to have only slept four hours
on Saturday night,
while the adults didn't get to bed til the early
hours of the morning.
We had an awesome time playing Apples to Apples,
Articulate! and Dutch Blitz.
Hilarious!
hehehe!

In The Silence

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here In The Silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

~The Gift of Values: Habit~

When people hear the word 'habit',
95% of them will immediately think of a negative habit.

The fact is however,

that good habits can have an incredibly

powerful positive effect in our lives,

just as negative ones are terribly destructive.

I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper
or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward
or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do,
you might just as well turn over to me,
and I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.

I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men.
And, alas,of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.

Those who are failures,
I have made failures.
I am not a machine,
Though I work with all the precision of a machine.
You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin;
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me

And I will put the world at your feet.
Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.

Who am I?

I am Habit!

"The chains of habit are too weak to be felt
until they are too strong to be broken."
Samuel Johnson

" We are what we repeatedly do.

Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."

Anon

"Habit is either the best of servants,

or the worst of masters."

Nathaniel Emmons

"Bad habits are like a comfortable bed,

easy to get into, but hard to get out of."

Anon

"Sow an act... reap a habit;

sow a habit... reap a character;

sow a character... reap a destiny."

George D. Boardman

I found all of this in a
book called "The Gift of Values"
by Rosie Boom.
It is a great devotional
that we have been reading together.
It is a great book. :)

{Dolls}

Laura and Beth bought a porcelain doll each,
so they have been making dresses
for them.

Beth made a dress from the walking dress pattern.

~Amy's dress~

Amy's dress was also from the Edwardian pattern,
but a different bodice.
It looks like a dress on The Young Victoria. :)
All patterns are from:
Making And Dressing Dolls' House Dolls,
a book Beth found at the library that she loves! :)

Stanley and other places

~Stanley~

We went to climb The Nut again,
this time with the Perth Doddies.
It was quite windy up there,
but other wise it was really nice.

Welcome to Liffey Falls!

~Liffey Falls!~

We took Uncle Shane, Auntie Kim and the boys
to Liffey Falls while they were here over Christmas.
It was lovely!
But the water was ~*c*o*l*d*~!!!
I mean really cold.
My feet hurt to put them in the water!

~Happy New Year!~

Once upon a time...
there was a little girl named Amy.
On the first day of every year she always had
a birthday.
(What? Greedy girl!)

On this particular New Years Day
Amy turned 10 years old.
Amy decided that she wanted to go to the pool
with her family and friends.
So she did.
They had a wonderful time together
playing,
swimming
and chatting.
The End
P.S. And the Banana Cake was as
scrummy as it looks!
